But everyone ignores me and does not answer me. admin, Vintila and others who can help me, explain me better how to make VLC find Serviio. Still, if I click on the option : " Universal Plug'n'Play " VLC crashes, stops and gives message at the top of the window, in front of which a description VLC media player " ( Not Responding ) " I open VLC, go on " Playlist ", but not the aprece Serviio as pictured. > Universal Plug'n'Play " several times, but the VLC finds NO, NO Serviio sees as shown in the image. I've tried several times using the explanations of it, but I can not configure VLC to work, play along with Serviio, as shown in this picture posted. I saw this topic and Vintila interested me because I find to be very useful for me. I have the latest version of Serviio Pro 1.4.1.2. Yikes! Does anybody here have that can help me ?Īny time I come here for help, but in spite of being difficult, when responding take a long time. ![]() "Īnd if I click on "Universal Plug'n'Play" VLC crashes and gives the message above the Player window: (Not reponding).ĬPU i7 - 8 GB RAM - Video Card 2 Gb Use Windows 8 Ultimate Pro Systemīecause VLC not seeing this, recognizing Serviio showing how the picture that you posted? So when I open VLC, tab "View -> Playlist -> Local Network -> Universal Plug'n Play, NO appears to folder or icon, or device as the image posted by you as example." Servvio (joseph-3889073cb7 ). But saw and reviewed the picture, and made and remade as you told us: I saw your topic on the link: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5620, It quite easy, just choose View -> Playlist ->Local Network ->Universal Plug’n Play., then you will find the Servio Server and all your folders. However a I have discovered that VLC version 2 can work as a DLNA / UPnP on Windows / Linux (I have not tested it on MacOs X.) Direct transfer through itunes is possible, but obviously doing it wirelessly is the way to go.įinally, the app has support for any media type i've thrown at it includeding any form of AVI wrapped package you can imagine, MKV, WMV, and subtitle support as well (though remember this will only work if you view the video through the samba interface and NOT the DNLA interface as subtitle files are not supported by DNLA.Vintila wrote:I was looking for a Windows XP DLNA media player without success, only XMBC was suggested which was more than I needed. One of the beauties of this app is that it also allows you to copy the files directly to your device via the wireless network connection if you are accessing the files through a SAMBA share, so you don't have to plug in, load up itunes and manually copy it over (under apps in your ipad settings on itunes). It uses authentication for the SAMBA folders (username/password) so if you wanted some password protection on some files on your network, rather than all open for everyone (as is the case with DNLA) this works too. Using an ipad 2 or iphone4, you can view your network shares (button at the bottom that looks like a terminal labled with SMB) it will show you both DNLA servers on the network and SAMBA shared folders. There are several different versions, the one labled as "buzz player classic" is only for older Iphones and ipods, and not recomended for an Ipad 2. The app that I ended up using and keeping for both the Ipad2 and Iphone4 was called "Buzz player" . the unsuccessful apps included Cineplayer and the goodplayer, and VNC. ![]() I tried several (thank goodness they were all about a $1 a peice) before I found one that did the trick. It really turns out that very few apps for the iphone or ipad deal well with either a DNLA server or SAMBA file server to fetch media files. I had similar problems with my Bufallo NAS (Pro-Duo) running the latest firmware. There is a much better app to use on the ipad that will solve alot of your problems: Buzz player. ![]()
